fuel pump

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

We have had our share of issues with cars and vehicles.  There was the time that we drove hundreds of miles in the dead of winter in minus 30 degree weather with a blown engine seal and had to top up the oil level every dozen miles or so.  Then there are the various fender-benders that both I and my husband have been involved in.  Cars are definitely an adventure.

Recently, we had to replace the alternator in our van.  The battery indicator light came on, so we thought it might be battery related.  But it was the alternator – the part that generates electricity and keeps the battery charged.

There are hundreds of other things that can go wrong in a car.  For example, the fuel pump could conk out.  If that’s ever the case, however, it’s good to know where I can find the right Carter mechanical fuel pump to replace it and get the car back on the road as quickly as possible.

Prevent car doors from freezing

Having trouble with your car doors? Well not anymore because you can try this inexpensive oil. Try this one and there’s nothing to lose anyway!

To prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray. Spritz cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors and rub it in with a paper towel. The cooking spray prevents the water from melting into the rubber.
