kitchen sinks

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

We have a house that’s almost ten years old.  So everything is still relatively new.  But one thing that may need replacing fairly soon are the sinks.  The bathroom sinks in particular are showing their age with chips and discoloration predominating.  It’s livable of course.  But it would be nice to have brand new sinks.  It might also be a good time to pick up new kitchen sinks at qualitybath.com while we’re at it.

Air filters

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

Over the years, we’ve kept our eyes and ears open for natural health solutions in our ongoing effort to stay healthy and avoid the high price of traditional medicine.  My husband and I value products that are geared to preventing health problems before they become overwhelming medical problems.

One idea that we’ve looked at is hepa home air filters to clean the dust and other contaminants from our indoor air that could be causing a host of health glitches like allergies.  We almost purchased a filter a few years ago, but held back because the timing or something.  But it may be time to go back and look at them again.

swishers

Monday, May 6th, 2013

I’ll always remember the day of our wedding, not just because it was MY wedding, but also because we heard so many good reports about it from friends and family.  Everyone we heard from reported having a wonderful time, which is always encouraging for a bride to hear.

There was one detail that still concerns me though.  My husband thought it would be great if he did the “traditional” handing out of cigars.  To make a long story short, he disappeared for half a day only to show up late for the rehearsal claiming to have found the perfect swishers to hand out on the next day.  I wasn’t impressed, to say the least.  It did not, however, appear to hurt the overall success of our day.

set screws

If you had only one tool in your toolbox, what would it be?  At first glance, that might seem like a simple question.  But, of course, it depends on what kinds of parts you’re most likely to encounter in your day-to-day life.  If your always working on rotating parts that require hex socket set screws, then you’re probably going to want to have a hex wrench set.

It’s hard to say what tool would be in my toolbox.  If I knew I was going to have to unscrew a lot of hex screws, I might want to have a hex wrench tool as well.  Especially since hex screws are one of the more specialized parts needing a specialized tool.  But a good flat head screwdriver just might be able to get around a few specialized parts.

Canned water

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013

Have you ever wondered what would happen if some sort of emergency like what happened in Japan a few years ago were to occur in your local area?  How would you cope considering that even your trusted local water supply could be gone – either contaminated beyond safe limits, or not running at all?  It’s not that far beyond the limits of likelihood to at least consider an alternative water source for you and your family – like at cannedwater.com – in the event of a catastrophe.

You might be thinking, well, I already have a limited amount of water on hand in portable jugs in the event of just such an emergency.   But what if the situation goes on longer than you’d planned?  How long would that water last in jugs.  Wouldn’t it have to be rotated – and fresh water brought to replace it?

There is an alternative that you may not have considered.  Think about how long those cans of food in your cupboard can hold out.  Now how about the same for water?  It might just save your life.

cushion

Monday, September 17th, 2012

Our old sofa has seen better days.  It has been around for almost the whole time that my husband and I have known each other.  And now recently, it has seen the rambunctious activity of a 3 year-old and an 8 year-old.  The upholstery could use a looking at.  And the cushion for chair also, has seen better days.   Both are probably due for replacement – and soon.
